Just follow the directions & it will be OK. It has never hurt any of my seals. They seam to enjoy a little engine tuner every once in a while.

    Re: Engine tuner Question (SEAHORSE)

A penguin is driving through Arizona, car starts overheating, so he pulls into a garage, tells the mechanic of the problem and the guy tells the penquin it should take about 2 hours to fix. Penguin walks around town, to kill time, finds an Ice cream parlor, orders a vanilla cone and walks out side while eating it going back to the garage. Ice cream is dripping down the Penguins chin, gets to the garage and sees the mechanic, mechanic says "Looks like you blew a Seal", Penquin replys "nope just eating an Ice cream cone!" CM

Years back it was the same story about snowmobiles. When the mechanic said to the owner "must have blown a seal", the owner replied "Nah, it's just frost on the mustache!".

You Guys, Ranger330v, it wont hurt the seals, just follow the directions on the can.

If you do the decarb on the hose let the motor idle.......Do Not rev the motor to 1500 RPM's.

Don't forget the Mercury, Harley Davidson, Rupp, John Deere, Brute, Sno-Jet, Alluette, etc.

Most had European single cylinder "shaker" motors and you went out in the snow with an armful of drivebelts and a pocket full of sparkplugs, big 18mm threaded honkers!

    Re: Engine tuner Question (Bassmeister)

I de-carbed my engine today just as it said on the back of the can. When the can was close to being empty i pulled off the little plastic tube, held the can on its side and let it drip into the carbs.I noticed on #1 cylinder that when the foam dripped down over the little brass tube on the front of carb, right under the throat, the foam would be sucked in the tube then pushed out.I held my hand close to the throats on all the carbs and only felt a little back pressure on all carbs,so i dont think its a bad reed.I have had the boat for 9 years never rebuilt the carbs.Any ideas? Thanks,Ronnie

Nothing to worry about, there will be a little back pressure form the carbs.

    Re: Engine tuner Question (RUSTY63)

I understand what you mean Rusty, but where i'm getting back pressure is at the little brass tube right under the carb throat.I think its the float bowl vent. With engine at slow idle and the last part of the can of de-carb i sprayed around the carbs lookin for vaccum leak. When i sprayed it in the brass tube on #1 it would pull the foam in then push it back out real fast like it was timed with the piston strokes.Number 1 cyl. was the only one that did it.I have the black plastic carbs.

    Thanks, Ronnie

If you feel its a problem, pull the carb and check the reeds.
