I am heading to Pool 16-17 this weekend and would like to know what are some things I need to look for as far as running. Iam not looking for fishing hotspots I( Ican do that) I just want to know as far as back water areas what to look for when running. I Fish the Missouri up north ( S.city North) For smallies and it is still like when Lweis & Clark came through- no channels lots of sandbars. Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks
Stay between the bouys when running the channel. Wing dams should be pretty close to the surface right now. Once you're off the channel it's best to probably idle to where you're going until you know what's there. Lot's of stumps and really shallow flats on these pools
Pool 16? good luck! ain't much there anymore for good fishin. Pool 17, big timber area is hot and cold, don't run it if you don't know it. some other backwater in 17 but nothing you can really run.

Haven't been back in Cleveland for probably two years but that is usually an easy spot to blast into.
Well Ima back Fished 16 on Sat to get a feel for a tourn there in Sept. Caught between 15-20 fish from 12-17" in Current! Fishes alot like the Missouri river Iam use to. Fished 14 on Sun and caught about the same numbers and size with the same outcome- Current. really like the areas would like to of fished a few other pools 15-& 17 but it was fun great weather also barge and pleasure traffic was heavy on Sat and alittle less on Sun.
What tournament are you fishing in Sept?

Tournment waters are pools 14-18 and just like any other major tournament it comes down to the faciltys and money.
Pool 16 is notoriously low. The past couple of years they have really kept that pool drawn down. BE CAREFUL!!! I'm not sure what the levels will be in september though. Difinitely not one of my favorite pools. It gets REALLY rough by Buffalo Shores with all the pleasure boats. Should be somewhat thinned out by then though.

got it sent one back to ya. yea Sat it felt like lake of the Ozarks. I had a big 40+ Yacht come barrel by us then slowed down right by us I took 6ft. rollers over the bow for awhile. real brilliant on his part :)

jr225ho Thanks for the offer. unfortunalty I wont get back up there until the Wed. Before the Tourn. I fish the upper Missouri here in Ne. which to me seemed to fish alot like what I found there this past weekend. we will see though if it hold true come Sept. were you on 14 on Sun? I saw a express w/ a e-rude pass us when we were fishing a break line.
