Took mom out for Mother's Day to Belva Deer to do some crappie fishing. Didn't catch a single one. Tried some bluegil fishing too. Same thing, not a one. Only fish caught were a few prototypical 13" Belva Deer bass. From the sounds of everyone on the lake, no one was catching any. Chitty weekend of fishing. Did see one bass guarding her newly hatched fry just off a bed.
Tried to catch some of those big bluegills there about a month ago and had the same luck. Ended up catching a lot of little bass on crank baits. Oh yeah I hate fishing crank baits. I prolly wont go back there this year.

I'll definitely go back, only because it's a good place to take the son and be guarantedd of catching a ton of bass!
I can go to hannen lake which is only 15 minutes from me and catch 30 bass in a night after work. They are all 12 to 13 inches but it is a blast. I have gotten a few people hooked on bass fishing after spending a day there. Oh yeah its an electric motor only lake.

Never heard of Hannen. How big and where is it located?
Its only 38 acres, and like I said electric motors only. My girlfriend out fishes me there using a weightless wacky rigged senko. That is too boreing of fishing for me but I usually catch enough to keep me happy.

oh sorry its about 5 miles soughwest of Blairstown. which is about 30 minutes west of Cedar Rapids.
