    Need some Retirement help...

Long story short, thinking of retiring in the next 2-5 years and really like Arkansas (even though I've only "driven" through there once, BEAUTIFUL!). Of course I would love the stars to "show me the way" to a awesome fishing lake to live by but with NO knowledge of the area, where would you suggest....with this in mind:
Will be looking for 3 or so acres, building house, and not far from lake (great plus!). Want to be western region because of family in NE Oklahoma and Lake of the Ozarks Mo. Will be retired but will more than likely get another job, have decent schools, shopping, etc. Was thinking of Fayetteville area or Lake Fort Smith area cuz I heard this was a good lake to visit?
I'm just narrowing it down and right now its between NW AR or NE Ok...appreciate any help/suggestions!

Although I love living where I do, in the North Central part of the state, if I were going to move anywhere it would be the Fayetville area.

Russellville would be a good area to retire. Arkansas Tech University is there. It has most everything you might need shopping wise. Not too far from Little Rock, the state capitol. Right on I40. Highway 7 goes to Harrison and Branson, MO. beyond that. Great fishing on Lake Dardanelleand the AR. River. Within an hour of Lake Ouachita, Nimrod, Blue Mtn., Atkins, Overcup, Brewer, Harris Brake, Cargill.

When I was little, Daddys car broke down while we were driving thru. We pulled over and stayed at a nice big building with a nice lawn and a circle drive right there on the side of the road. I liked it. Had lots of toilets. We could all go pee at same time if we wanted. Some guys came along and tore up the circle drive and just gave us that house.
    Eventually, we learned the language.
    Been here ever since.
    It's nice here.

I dont know but I lived in Fort Smith and there aint a damn thing there but flat land when I had the chance to transfer to Hot Springs I jumped all over it 3 great lakes close by and plenty of things to do. My wife is from Mountain Home up north inbetween Norfork and Bull Shoals so that would be the only other place I would live. So for me it is either here in Central Arkansas or up North near Mtn Home anywhere else just doesnt feel right to me

I've heard good things on Lake Brewer also. I just want to be close to multiple areas/lakes/rivers/etc to fish...and I have to say that I've become spoiled with these SoCal giants and its going to be hard to leave the area I'm in now but know that its a "have to" move when it comes time to take the uniform off.
Any good sites to "research" on...I appreciate the help guys, as you always come through with solid advice!

I like the area I am in Heber Springs north central. If I was moving no doubt Mtn Home would be first choice followed by NW AR and Hot Springs

I know you talking NW Ark, but think about SW Arkansas. I live on Millwood lake. Withing 70miles of the lakes around Hot Springs. Millwood is known as "The" big bass lake in Arkansas. Trouble is, you have to deal with stumps. Average depth is around 5' and full of Bois de Arc (bodark) and Cyprus. Also we have our share of Gators, as well as an abundance of fish in the 7 to 9lb class and several double digit fish showing up each year. Nearby town would be Ashdown, but lt's a rural area where you should be able to find acreage. You would also be about 2 to 2.5hrs from Lake Fork, Texas.
