Oil consumption

I'm just kind of guessing here but my numbers should be close. Went to the lake for a couple of days and i figure i drove a total of 70 miles, used almost 2 gallons of oil and 45-50 gallons of gas. This seems quite excessive to me, especially the oil. Its a 2003 21 ft blazer with a 2003 yamaha 250 ox66 with phase 2 kit from hydrotec. Im fishing at a high altitude, 6,500 ft. It smokes alot when i start it up and at idle. Runs great otherwise. What do you guys think. Most of the miles i put on it i was just cruising about 4500rpm, I did have a pretty heavy load in it, had it full of camping gear. Thanks for the help

Have you adjusted the the arm on the oil pump? You want about a .010 gap between the pin and the stop.
