    Sanding the Pad

There was a little talk on this in a post a week or so ago. Would like to know more about how you go about doing this? I assume you take a block and fairly fine grit sand paper and sand the pad only until it if perfectly flat and smooth. Is this correct? Do you you use a straight edge to get out any imperfections?

It is a 21, why does that matter?

unless it is a special extremely light version for some reason, it will likely not see the speeds necessary to see the benefits being that it is a 21'

Blueprinting a stock 21xd would just be wasting money, but if you got it straight edged, you could tell some handling benefits!! I won't own another one with out it being straight edged!!! but you have to be more careful and not hit anything

To my knowledge no one has done it to a 21 (Except me) and I am still fighting to get the boat set up to where it was running. Dont get me wrong it does handle better and it was supposed to gain a mile an hour or hopefully two ( And I am sure it will) But the set up totally changed.

    Re: Sanding the Pad (pijman)

Did you have it blueprinted with the edges sharpened or did you just sand it?

    Re: Sanding the Pad (99jav)

It is sharpened straight and has no hook on the back. EXACTLY like you are supposed to have it. I made sure the guy knew what he was doing. I will get it set up again but it is not worth getting it done.

OK Guys, thanks for the info. Did not know that much about it but seems to me better off leaving well enough alone. I have a history of not doing that so I will take your advice on this one.

    Re: Sanding the Pad (Hunter1001)

Had my 21xrd/300xs 2009 done at the factory, complete blueprinting/straightedged, sanded. The faster you go the more difference it makes. I got it done to improve driveability at higher speeds. It works for me, you do have a problem if you need it fixed...

    Re: Sanding the Pad (halfast)

How fast have you been with your 21xrd/300xs with the blueprinted pad?

I have the same combo, but without the blueprinted pad. Just curious.

Re: Sanding the Pad (70 Mach 1)

93.7 with me driving, just me and all my gear half tank 28 bc performer 4. A better driver with more sack might get a little more. My 29 hydromotive runs 90 with 2 and drives and holeshots like a dream. The performer lifts the stern better which makes it faster but I do not like the way it drives except for the speed.
