Troll Motor Lock Nuts

What is the easiest way to put the lock nuts back on the trolling motor bracket? I have one way up front that came off & my arm dosent fit all the way up there to reach it. I would not think you would have to remove the cap just to put on 4 lock nuts huh?? Or is there a special tool you guys use to reach that far up under the deck?

I just did it, and it took about a week for my arm to heal from forcing it into the front panel opening. got scratched up pretty good. no tool worked for me cause I had to get my arm up there to get the nuts started.

no special tool i wish there was though... my advice is to have on a long sleeve shirt when you reach in there. fiber glass tore my arms up

Did one a while back. Had to get my nephew to do it. He is 13 and has long lanky arms. It was even rough for him

I have done 2 ways.

1) take an 18" or 24" hurrican strap (used for trusses) tape a box end wrench to it. Take a piece of tape and place over one side of the box end. this way you can place the nut into one side of the box end of the wrench and it will not fall thru. Basically a long extension box end wrench. use this to go in thru the front dash access.. This way is still hard to do.

2) which is easiest in my opinion. Remove the rod orginizer from the center rod compartment (about 6 screws.) slide on back up into the compartment. You can get all the way up into the nose or atleast I could. Make sure you bring all the tools and hardware up inder with you. Have a friend turn the screw from outside while you are up under the hood of your bullet. I was able to move around and work in a comfortable fashion. almost wanted to take me a little power nap while I was upinder

I am 5'-8" about 205lbs and a shoulder span thats a tad wider then your normal guy of that build. There is more room inder then ya think

while your upder take a glance around and you can see how your stringers and wires get put together. Its pretty neat

Its really a shame that it can't be done on a 20V that has the troller TN mounted

+2 on Rich said, I can even get my big azz up in the center rod box. If you have a recessed foot pan you can reach them from there 2, that's how I do it most of the time, but more comfortable from the center box

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot tonight. I'm only 160lbs soakin wet so I should have no problem going up through the center box.

If you are 160 soakin' wet...you should be able to fly up there!!! I do it that way also...I just don't tell my wife I am in there...fraid she would shut the lid and lock it!!!! Just be VERY carefull not to unhook your gps wireing on the front. I did just that and had to go back up there on the water to fix it. ALSO...if you are the LEAST BIT closterphobic (sp) I would NOT recommend it either!!

It's a whole lot easier to get in the center box than it is to get out!!!
If you trace your bow panel plate, there's room to dremel out that opening a little and every little bit helps.

This worked great for reaching to do my grab handle
