Oh NO! I can't believe that. I never met the dude but he ALWAYS helped me out with Hi-Performance information especially when I bought my first Bullet. Man this has really ruined my day. He gave me detailed step by step instructions when I fogged my motor before I went to Korea in 99’ and helped me decide to convert my cable steering to hydraulic all those years ago. This is really bad news.

i do not understand why the guy did not jump in the water , instead of trying to hand him a life vest. It sounded like there was a couple of them in the boat, and they just watch him slip away. It is just sad that it really sounds like he could have been saved. I met Tony a few times, and my old man fished with him in his bullet a few years ago in a T. He was a class act.

Now I know somebody else is thinking how I'm thinking. I know I wasn't there but if I can hand you a life jacket and I can jump in the water and keep you afloat. That has been bugging the holy sh*t out of me since I read it. Judging from this news report Tony could have been saved. It really bothers me to think that is the case.

No doubt, he should of been saved. I am sick about it.

    Re: Tony Reynolds news... (GamblerHydra)

Please keep in mind that what the reporter reports don't necessarily mean that is what they were told!!! That is just how he/she interpreted what they were told!!! The guys that were there may have done WAY MORE than was ever reported and have to live with what they witnessed...I would hate for that to be the case and then one of them read where people that weren't there were saying they could have done more. Just a thought...

    Re: Tony Reynolds news... (Longrodder)

the only thing I would say is if they had time to offer a life vest, but he was unresponsive, then they had time to jump in. It soudns pretty clear that they just reached for him, trying to get him as he went down, after he was unresponsive to the life vest. There has been no mention of either man trying to jump in. I guess maybe they could not swim, but we do know they had life vest. I just think the first thing I would have done is jump in and brought him to his back. there is no doubt they will have to live with what they saw.

I know what you mean Steve, and as I stated I wasn't there so I really do not know what happened. It just really bothers me to think that the article DID really tell how it was. And if they couldn't swim I understand that too, they'd have been terrified fro their own life. My wife feels that's probably the case. But I just can't shake the fact that anybody that could have jumped in could have saved his life. Life is full of screwed up surprises and I guess this is one of them. This whole thing has just really upset me. I just remember all the help he gave me over the years and all the great work he has done for the Marine world and it just sucks that it had to end this way.

Speaking of lifejackets...........I wonder why a man with as much fast boat experience as Tony Reynolds wasn't wearing one during a high speed pass? At some level I can empathize with the guys trying to help. Many folks drown trying to help someone, they grab a person and panic sets in and both drown. Not sayin it's right or wrong, only that I can empathize.......Cmack

Prayers to the family. No one ever leaves this earth at their own time, each of us has an appointment somewhere in the future. When the Lord calls we must answer. We lost one of the best fishermen in my home area of East Tennessee, Charlie Nuckles to a drowning accident. His boat got away at the ramp and he attempted to swim and get it. He left us way too soon as well.
May each and every one of you be safe and blessed.

Remember what was said. They said after they saw him get thrown and heard him yelling they "pulled up the anchor" That tells me they were crappie fishing or something and maybe i shouldnt assume but I have a mental picture of 2 very old guys sitting there with crappie rods in hand. They may not have been physically able to jump in. I think I would have thrown the throw cushion though

    Re: Tony Reynolds news... (Yellow21xdc)

Guys please pass on the news of this to all your friends. Please remind them all of the value of a simple life vest and how important it is to wear it whenever your are running in a boat. It breaks my heart that this has happened again. we have all read of things like this happening. I still can't beleave it has not hit home enough to move people to do something about this.. ALWAYS wear you life vest. It is just not worth it...My prayers to all that have been affected by this and another to get people to wear there vests...
