'04 V-Max.....loose hose, oil leaking out of cowl (pictures and model/serial #s)

I am looking at buying a '04 Ranger Reata with this '04 (I think) Yamaha V-Max 150 on it (havent bought it yet, but can if I want).

I started it today after it sitting for a few WI months (using the muffs). I ran it for a few minutes (all seemed good).

After I washed the boat, I noticed some oil (top pic) leaking at the bottom of the cowl/hood.

I took off the hood and noticed a hose not conected to anything that "seemed" to be the sourse of the oil.

The oil is hard to see in the pic, but clean oil has/is oozed out of the end of the line. Is the line suposed to be conected to anything? I do see a plastic nipple on the bottom of the big black plastic (air intake?) thing on the front of the motor.

    Any ideas would be awesome.

I did take some #'s off the motor. Guessing one is a model # and othe is serial #??

    V150TLRC

    Thanks guys,

Is should hook to a barb fitting near by. I just looked at mine all the lines with a red stripe are hooked up to a barb fitting. It might have came off the intake look to the bottom of the assembly for a open barb or similar.

For running the motor you can use the fitting in the pic under the cowl. Hook it to a hose and you are good to go but do not rev the motor just idle only.

So the hose should be hooked up to the black plastic barb fitting sticking out of bottom of the black intake?

That would make sence......loose hose, fitting with no hose.....lol. Just dont wanna goof anything up, not my boat yet.

So I can hook a hose to the "hose fitting" that is screwed to the bottom of the cowl? That makes things easier.

Also, anyone know what the cold compression should be on a motor like this?

    Again, thanks in advance.

Ya looks like that is it for the hose. That fitting is what my 2006 uses and it is great. Go to Yamaha site and look up the model number and you can look up PDF for the motor

That is an oil recirculation line. they will leak. Probably came off when someone pulled the intake. Look at the side of the intake, and make sure there are no other loose or leaking hoses.

You would like to see 120 lb, 110 is ok. All cylinders should be within 10%.
