Changed the water/fuel separator thingy and it still idles a bit funny. It runs fine going up and down the river but when I stop it idles rough and it sounds like a lifter is knocking?? My next step is changing the plugs and see if that helps. Really wish I was a boat mechanic. I hate paying somebody to work on my crap..
If anyone has any other ideas I am all ears..
What year is the motor? Is it carbed, EFI, or HPDI?
It is a 2006 HPDI, I have bought new plugs and I am trying them out tonight.
next step would be the fuel system, it has a filter in the VST tank, one on the port side of the engine (clear bowl), and the dreaded secret filters/screens in the fuel rail. Look at the posts that are pinned to the top of this page, there is some really good info there and how to access and change them out.
Well I think it may be the oil pump.
Last night after I put the new plugs on and ran it a bit, it started knocking like crazy and got louder. The oil in the tank never seemed to go down since the last time i added oil.
I am hoping that it may just need a new filter or the line is blocked.
