    01 225 FICHT

I am finalizing my repower job here and have a question?
Where do you hook up the pitot tube on the motor. I ran new tube all the way to the console, but I only see a brass fitting(plug) on the rear of the power head (just to the lower left of the V where it is stamped V6). Is this for the pitot tube? Or is it where I connect my engine temp. sensor....(Rusty63 already told me to look for a bracket but I do not see a bracket) I purchased the sensor today for engine temp. and it looks like it would fit where the brass plug is located. I run all OMC gauges.
I was also told at the dealership the pitot tube should be sent down by the lower unit....I dunno.....

    Thanks

    Paul

I have never heard of the Pitot going to the LU I always thought that there was a spot on the block for your Pitot Tube Connection. The pros will be along shortly to help ya out.

That sounds like the water pressure line. It connects to the "T" you mentioned and runs to the pressure gage. I have a pic of that somewhere. If I find it I'll post it.

There is no pitot tube integral to the motor that I'm aware of.

O.K. I found where the sensor hole is....(on top of the power head).......so the pitot tube needs to connect to the rear of the power head where the motor is stamped V6??? i hope so I am off to buy a fitting to replace the brass plug..

No, the pitot tube connects to the speedo. The water pressure line connects to the brass fitting in back of the motor. Are you saying you don't have a "T" fitting?

The T-Fitting I see is rather large perhaps 1/2 inch or greater the pitot is 1/4 inch. I am not sure where the speedo is?

    I greatly appreciate your help....

The water pressure guage hose will attach to the small brass plug on the back of the powerhead next to the V-6, you will need a nipple to screw into the block.

The pitot (speedo) tube will attach to the nipple on the front of the gear case (if equipped) above the anti splash plate, we run the pitot tube down the hole in the swivel tube, this tube can be seen when the motor is turned to full lock just below the motor pans, this is the same hole the shift shaft runs down through.

The temp sensor that came with the temp guage should have had a bracket that came with the kit, it will attach to one of the head bolts.

Sorry for a very stupid questiom but here it goes....What is the difference between the Speedo Tube and the Water Pressure Pitot Tube? Rusty you said "if equiped" how would one know if it is equiped with this speedo tube?

The part that John(Rusty) is talking about uses the pickup off the l/u instaed of having a seperate plastic pickup usually mounted on the back of the boat's transom toward the bottom...

Re: 01 225 FICHT (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

So is my assumption correct that the speedo tube is for Speed? I have the same motor without a speedometer so I would not use a speedo tube? Or is the speedo tube also for my water pressure guage?

    Thanks as always,
    Tim

    Re: 01 225 FICHT (Dusky1993)

speedo tube is for speedo only

pressure tube is for pressure guage only

    2 separate tubes

water pressure guage tube runs from engine block

speedo tube either runs from l/u of motor or speedo brkt on back of boat at the bottom--most likely you should have fitting on the outside of the l/u in the front (closest to the boat) for it to hook up to
