Tilt Trim only Clicks ~ Test Motor

2002 V Max 066 tilt trim only clicks when you use any switch. Read the search and hear you can tap the trim motor with a rubber hammer and it would possible work a little. This didn't work for me and looking for a way to trouble shoot. Is there a fuse? How can I test the motor to see if that's the issue. What's the cheapest place to buy the motor is needed?

Also, will water get into the fliud if I use the trim release screw underwater. Trying ot understand if I need to flush.

    Any help appreciated,

    Rmax ~ Broke Vmax

There are two fuses, a 20 amp and a 80 amp associated with the tilt/trim system. Should be in the main fuse panel on the side of the motor. I don't have the schematics for your model, but if you are hearing the relay "click" you are getting power through the switch to the relay coils. I would bet it's the 80 amp main trim motor fuse. Also if it's a fuse, knocking on the motor will do no good (as you already tried).

Should be two spare 80 amp fuses and a fuse puller under the fuse block cover on the OX66. Simple thing to do is pull the 80amp one and try one of the others, or pull it and check with meter. However if it blows again after your swap it, you have a wiring issue (dead short to ground), or a bad motor coil.

Yes, I believe it would be a bad idea to use the trim bypass valve underwater. Hopefully it's just the fuse.

The fuse isn't blown so I'm still cluless. Did notice that the cover was off that covered that rubber block with the 4 plugs...what are those and wonder if that could cause failure?
