Did your buddy get it from Advanced? Did it come with the Raker prop on it?

I was talking to Gary the other day about that. He had mentioned a few of their rigs were having issues spinning hubs on the rakers....But 8 in a row, dang something must be wrong. Each time is it being re-hubbed or a new prop?

It was probably two weeks ago when myself and Gary were discussing it when his car was in my shop for service. I asked him if they had tried any Merc props and he told me they hadn't. But I bet a tempest would sure rock on that rig. If it is spinning the hub on new props, then dang. Something ain't right at all. Hopefully Rusty will have an answer for it. If I had a prop that he could spin I'd let him try. But all of my merc props with the interchangeable hubs are loaned out right now. Just got a couple of overhub props with pressed in hubs for the merc/yamaha shaft.

I was down there today ordering parts for my rig and James was telling me they aer getting 81-82 out of their 201Pro/225HO combos. That sure is cooking, expecially when you consider that is approaching speeds that even 5 years ago were only attainable by Bullet, Stroker, Gambler, and Allison. For a mainstream bassboat to be getting 80 out of the box is incredible. Everytime I go by I look at the 201's very hard. Slick rigs.

Some engines have a service bulliten about hub failures. There is a fix for this if its one of the affected engines. Since this is #8 im guessing its one of them.

unless something was out of whack, like a bent propshaft, what could cause some motors to blow hubs?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

Exhaust heat on long runs at WOT was what I was told. There was an issue with some of the omc's spinning hubs and melting weedrings but I thought bomb addressed that with enlarging a water inlet hole or something along that line. I'm wondering what year the motor is also.

For what it's worth, that's what I was told by Chad Brauer on the ETECs. He and his dad had experienced this event(s) and Bomb contributed this due to extreme exhaust temps. He said the Raker2 addressed those problems for them.

There is a kit your dealer can add which will put more water in the prop hub area....it should eliminate this problem.
