    how do I check my tach

    I have a 04 200 ox66 on my bass cat and my tach has gone crazy. At idle it shows 800-900 rpms but will go past 6000 easy but I ll only be gonig 55-60 mph. Is there any way to check to see if the tach has gone bad or could there be something else. I do not have the yahama guages they are teleflex.
