what boat is it strapped to?
My 07 150VMax carb is outperforming all the Champ 183's with DFI's on their back by about 2 mph.
I've found it to be a STRONG motor!![]()
Am i correct when I say it's on a Stratos 285, with no jackplate?
If so, a jackplate will add performance!![]()
It'll add noticable "all around" performance. Holeshot, handling, & topend.
My 2007 Champ 183/Yamaha 150VMax is about the same length & weight as your Stratos 285.
I'm getting a true 62-63 gps speed (66'ish on speedo) with me alone and half tank, and around 61 gps with 2 people, equipment & half tank.
I'm running with a 10" jackplate, Trophy Plus 23 pitch prop, with propshaft around 3-1/2" below pad.
I've got a 2004 blazer 180 pro v, 18 ft long with a 150 vmax carb and a 10 inch jackplate, i've tried several different props and it only runs around 64 mph on gps at best. This may seem ok for a 150, but i consider it slow....
I had a 1998 389b javelin with a 150 merc xr6 and all it had a was a bob's machine shop "the tuner" in it and it would gps 68-69 mph all day. If you wanna run better get a MERC.
