......have some Ice on roads this morning........was doing the speed limit but maybe a bit too fast for the conditions.......made sure it was working.....YEP.....atleast I only slid about 20 feet instead of further than that..........my Ol Mule wouldnt have stopped that good

Gina was behind me so I called her to tell her watch out its slick......she says "no shit....I'm right behind you & watched you"

    Ryan,

We had a '93 Suburban back when. My wife used it to carpool several kids to school. The first time they heard the anti-lock working, one of the kids said "EWWWWWWWWW -- the car is farting!!!" Out of the mouths of babes!!

My Hyundai has ABS. It also has a traction control system which prevents wheel slippage no matter how much throttle you give it. It's pretty cool.

yeah it does sound weird for sure.....esp for someone who has never heard it before.

    that bring up a story

I was trying to Diagnose a car one time with a noise while braking......for the life of me I could never figure it out......after talking with my Advisor & then onto my customer to get it from the horses mouth.........I discovered that this "sound" does not occure all the time Apparently the ONLY time it happens is when it is raining out or sometimes on gravel roads..........OK....knowing the 2s of those have NOTHING in common for surface I told them to come back when it was doing it & I'd ride with thme to figure this thing out........The day came it was raining again so they stopped in for me to take a ride......wouldnt you know that while I was riding with them it happened..............but I can tell you that I left fingure imprints on the dash on passenger side thsi person was a MANIAC and was supprised as heel they havnt been in an accident till then.......Once I informed them on what was happening and WHY......it seemed to sink in that the only time it will engage is during an EMERGENCY braking or when the vehicle is loosing control during a stop (ice or gravel )....................................SOO.......... I think they changed there driving habbit that day.....and I think my finger imprints remind them each time they stop now

Theoretically......it not really "traction control".......all it does is cut power to the motor(no matter how much you push on it) & applies the brake to the fastest wheel spinning.........true traction control can be found on a variety of AWD, Quattro, 4-Motion....or similar vehicle where they use a Fluid coupling or Power trasfer system which will divert power from front to rear and independently monitor each wheel's motion & by usign a YAW sensor to determine the turning load index to make the proper adjustment to bring vehicles center of gravity back to stable or controllable.......most europena cars have had versions of this for years but American and Japanese makets have caught onto this technology & have been putting it on some vehicles but in differnt manners.

I'm really Not trying to bust yer bubble, just informing you ......but I dont like the way they "Word" things like this.......its more of a marketing thing I guess so it makes them appear to have things that they truly do not

What you TRULY have on your Hyundai.....is ASR.....Anti-Slip Regulation still a very good thing to have for safety & drivability..........but I'm sure Hyundai will tell you its traction control anyway

I have an electronic stability control switch which I hope does what it's supposed to do. The wife needs it. Interestingly enough I couldn't find any thing in the manual for the "traction control". I may have just missed it. All I know is you can't slip the wheels on ice or snow even if ya floor it.
