Etec problem

I have a 200 etec. Ocassionally when I start it and try to give it gas RPMS don't move. Shut the motor off and restart and its fine. Why does it do this

Do you get any horns or lights?

Could be the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).

Do you have a "hot foot" on this rig? Possibly the stop isn't adjusted correctly - if tps voltage is too high the engine may not accelerate.

Ask your dealer to check the set up (typical tps voltage is about .5 volts @ dead-idle). Check for any tps codes or possibly check the tps wiring.

No lights....I do have a hot foot...the last time this happened I shut the motor off and it was in gear
