Are both ends of it all metal? Wouldn't it scratch up your motor? I just got a MY-Wedge last season, this looks like it would last forever...the MY-wedge looks like it will wear out pretty quick
the part that touches the trim rods at the bottom is plastic ( hard plastic ). The other end however is powder coated metal, but if you'll notice has small holes indented to align up with the yamaha rivits. Once I get to my boat, I'll have better pictures.

PS. I'm not trying to start a debate about which style is better. The reason I bought this up was because the Swivel Ez that I currently have is this http://www.basspro.com/servlet...sults
I've notice that the lower unit on my Yamaha is thinner at the nose of the "bullet", where the transom saver touches. This has caused the motor to slide all the way into the "Y" in the Transom Saver which is causing scratches to the lower unit. I have band-aided the problem by Superglueing some foam padding that the bottom of the Y to help, but its still rubbing the paint off the sides of the lower unit. I've been Hopeing that Lock-N-stow would come out with a Yamaha flavor and haven't seen it. I also have a MYWEDGE but it doesn't keep my motor from turning ( yes, I have hydro steering ) but when you hit a bump in the road, pot hole, railroad track, the motor will turn. I went to using both the MYWEDGE and Swivel EZ on long trips and it's the best, most secure method. My theory is this.. the motor cost around $12-15 grand, and I want it protected as much as I can. $50 for this device or Mywedge or Swivel Ez is a drop in the bucket compared the the cost of the Yamaha. Just trying to find that "better mouse trap".

I agree with you totally (I have no brand loyalty here) I was just curious about how the surfaces mated up. For some reason I could see you hitting a bump in the road and shearng off the zirc fitting on the right side of the motor. When I ordered the MY-wedge I also got the rubber clips that slide onto the hydraulic steering slides they keep the motor from turning (and they were only like $6) BUt as far as the transom saver that straps to the lower unitI actually had to put a towel between it and the motor and it still rubbed the paint off

Here's what it looks like on the motor:

Enjoy!

That looks pretty sharpI see that it doesn't even go into the pocket where the zirc fitting is.......I know what i'll be buying after my MY-Wedge wears out

Thanks for posting it Jeff. I have not been able to grab mine yet and everyone wanted to see them. Thanks again.![]()

Do you think a rubber pad would help with friction on the end of the block that touches the motor?

Duane,
are you referring to the Swivel Ez or the ProRule Transom saver? If your refering to the ProRule, it's got a hard plastic bottom at the end where it touches the trim rod.
If your referring to the Swivel Ez, I've actually tried super glueing a foam rubber pad at the Y in the transom saver and it's still rubbing paint.
I'll report on the ProRule after I've made a few trips to the lake and report back. the weather in the Dallas area has been cold and wet, so maybe we'll get some good weather soon.

Sorry, I'm referring to the other end opposite of the trim rods on the new pro-rule for the yamaha. Metal against metal? Let us know how it goes with it.
thanks,
Duane

Just ordered mine from the website. You can order them there now. Hope they perform like everyone says they will.
Thanks for the pics! I just placed my order.![]()
jf, that transom saver from prorule looks good on the motor, however from looking at the pictures and reading the problem you had with the mywedge as far as your motor turning, I believe you are still gonna have that problem unless you get the steering clipshttp://www.m-ywedge.com/centerclips.htm

Having run Yamaha's since 1986, and made a few transom savers. I like the one that Pro Rule has made. This looks like a winner. It sure beats the old styles that you have to tackle and strap on the lower unit. Besides, it saves from lower unit paint scraps, etc.
However, before I place my order for one of these new item, I have a couple question.
I have a Yamaha 150hp. The total travel (distance) from bottom of trim pistons to upper casing where the pistons meet when motor when trimmed up, is 9".. The trim pistons are 3" long. From the photo's here on the transom saver, it looks to be no more than 8" in length. If that's the case, I wouldn't be able to put the saver on the trim pistons, needing another 3" of travel to install it. I cannot trim the motor any higher due to the lever that on the steering shaft sticks forward, and it hits the top of the boat transom. This is due to the fact I have a 6" Jack Plate, which prevents any further travel..
Am I missing something here on it's use?

measure where your prop shaft to pad is now, then raise your motor 1 hole on the jackplate to raise the steering arm up, then lower your jackplate back down to where the prop shaft was
