I went back with Yamaha oil. Sure as other that were mentioned are good, but for me, went back with what was there.

Mercury or Yamaha lower unit oil will be fine both have additive that can handle water entry.

Me too. I am amazed at the condition of year-old Mobile One. The used lube feels completely different than dino lube. Super slick

Re: lower unit gear oil (21XDC)

I need to put another order in with Ben for more oil and some Gear lube. Last year when I changed out the lower unit with Amsoil is was a major mess. Does anyone have a suggestion for the most efficient and cost effective way to change this stuff out?

    1) Will the Amsoil pump fit on the 75W/80W-90 gear lube?
    2) Since the VMAX 225 3.1 requires more than 1 950mL bottle, do you now if Amsoil offers a gallon container of it? If not, would it be possible to order an empty gallon plastic jug from Amsoil that will work with their pump assuming the adapter will work with the hole i.d. in the lower unit?
    3) Has anyone tried the tubes? They just seem like an even sloppier mess.

    Thanks for you input.

Re: lower unit gear oil (bcbasser)

Thanks Ben. If I can order a gallon of the lube I will just go that route and order the pump. Do you use the amsoil pump on your Yamaha? If you get a chance can you send me the catalog number for the gallon of the lower unit lube 75w 80-90w)? I also need to order a couple gallons of the injector oil. I have been happy with the amsoil oil and lube I ordered from you late fall. I will try and get the order placed within the next couple days. Thanks for the quick reply.

I use Amsoil Marine gear oil. What ever you get, make sure it is for marine use.
