Couple of buddies want to go to Paintsville in late Sept. Is it worth fishing for Bass at that time?
Yea, I fish it year round, if the water is cooling off the top water bite will be on, if it is still hot fish top water early and late, jigs, c-rigs, texas rigged lizzards or big worms, the rest of the day. If you all come down on the weekend message me and i'll try to come out and put you on a few good spots, where fish in the 5 to 8 pound range have been caught this year.

I had 5 that went 18.3 this spring up at the end of the lake....they were bedding in late March up there. Lots of grass and laydowns. Pitchin and rattle baits worked well for me.
Brad that was a good stringer and would have won any tournament with ease, I had a friend who won a Fishers of Men tourney this spring on Paintsville with over 30#. If any of you guy's are on Paintsville I am out just about every Sat. nite or Sunday morn, I have a red Ranger 518 with a Merc opti, it is the only one down here like it just flag me down and I will try to help you out.

I heard about that stringer. I felt stooopid because I called bs on it at first.
That would be the 5 that went 30+
Went to Paintsville today, caught 1 little one on a crankbait, nothing on plastic. Had the most of the lake to myself.

Fished Paintsville Sat. evening for about 3 hrs. caught 4 on a Texas rigged worm, one of those went 20" all fish were caught around the edge of the big grass bed around the island. Went back Sun for a little while and caught a few in the 12-15" range, my buddy caught a 4# on a worm off of a drop off at the edge of a grass bed about half way up the lake.
