    Was I right or wrong?

I was fishing a club tournament this weekend at Kentucky Lake, I was running up to fish a point and another boat was running to the same area, so I backed off a little to see where he was going. He started idleing at the point towards the back of the pocket so I went up to the point when he turned his boat around and started yelling that "I wasn't going to cut him off and if I was gonna fish this point I'm gonna do it behind him." and other things about tournament fisherman and such, I don't remember it all, and drove his boat between me and the point which I was only about a long cast away from the bank, mind you I was already on my trolling motor by the time he turned around. I said that was fine and I went on down the bank. Should I have done something different or is this guy in the wrong.

It is amazing what bass fishermen have become. I have never seen so many people that enjoy the same thing being such jerks to eachother on a lake as I saw on KY Lake on Saturday. Ben and I were fishing a ledge when the sportsmen's edge tourney launched and two guys in a Ranger came by us at about 65-70 mph and passed on the side we were casting to about 30 feet away. This happened constantly. It is such a big lake and it seems like making a long run is a gamble anymore because there is someone on every single point and ledge and there is an attitude because of it.

There is no right or wrong anymore. On days like this past Saturday, you just fish where you can, try to be courteous as you can, and try to stockpile as much patience as you can in your boat before you go. With technology these days, there aren't anymore secret spots out there, and as technology progresses it will only get worse.

I sometimes miss the good old days of having to line up the big maple with the bushy cedar, look over your left should and draw a line to the green buoy, and start fishing when you intersect the line to the fourth houseboat from the end of the dock. Everyone was nicer and more humble back then.

It seems more and more A-Holes are out these days. On 2 occassions saturday we had the same thing happen to us.
I was going to say something to the first boat that went between us. I noticed he had MO numbers and was fairly old so we didnt say anything. Then he starts to turn around a go back thru, Me and my partner said to each other (loud enough to be heard) Can you believe the nerve of some people, well he didnt go thru
Similar thing later that day as well.
Like the others said they are everywhere and its only going to get worse.
I'm just waiting to hear on the news one of these days about a shooting on Ky lake, I'm sure its just a matter of time

I don't think you did anything wrong. Seems we always remember the jerks and a-holes, but I still believe the majority of fishermen are A-OK. Two weeks ago on a Friday night on Cumberland the skies opened up and it poured. We didn't make it to the ramp so we found a slip to wait it out.(about midnight). Another boat idles by, then turns around asking about the fishing. We moved over and told them to tie up to us. Two really decent guys and about as enjoyable of an hour spent on the lake this year. There ARE some good guys out there.

You were ok, in the past year for some reason it has gotten really bad. I think it's from all the tv exposure of the lake and the laziness of some fisherman who don't want to pay their dues they want the easy route

It is amazing how bass fisherman are becoming more and more like ski boaters. I didn't have any problems with people at Ky Lake this year, just one guy cut between me and the bank as we were trying to fish a point. Last year I had a discussion with some clown in a wrapped Skeeter, who felt he needed to be on the point I was on, more than I needed to be there. He said he lived on the lake so it was okay to cut me off.

I had so much fun Wed, Thurs, and Friday that it almost doesn't matter about the morons Saturday.

Re: Was I right or wrong? (Mike Daleo)

Wow, this brought up a sore subject for me. Last month, I fished a tournament on KY Lake around New Johnsonville. I was fishing a long stretch of pea gravel bank just outside the Clydeton/Richland Harbor area.

My partner and I were throwing carolina rigs up to the bank and working it back out into 15ft of water. I was a cast away from the bank. We were catching fish.

I had the boat parallel to the bank. I heard a boat coming toward us and it was running the bank on pad. I knew the driver saw us and he intentionally ran between us and the bank. There were no obstructions, reason, or possible issues that would keep this person from going around us. The guy litterally ran just a few feet off the bank.

The driver did it to be a jerk and to mess up our fish. The guy was driving a white Stratos 201 with silver and yellow stripes and I believe the engine was a merc. I hope I never run into that SOB. The guy is a low life, idiot, scum bag, inconsiderate bastage. I can only imagine the hell he must put his family through because of his stupidity and spitefullness.

Re: Was I right or wrong? (Duane Harper)

I've had problems in the past but not this weekend. On several occasions I've stopped and asked if I could fish the point in front of them or just behind them. I've had several thank me for asking and almost always they agree to let me go ahead. While ledge fishing this weekend we shared it with several people throughout the day. Whether we were there first or not I always tried to give them a reasonable amount of room to fish. Nothing was ever said and seemed as though everyone caught fish.

I do not fish Ky or Barkley on weekends for this very reason. Some folks are just natural born JERKS and I can be a hothead at times.
