Reasonable? No. Go to Reynold down in shephardsville and he will at least give you some good advice and let you know what size they would bore it to and what displacement is available for that block.

Joe Neuhaus suggested Miles Machine Shop to me Steve. They are Dixie Hwy in Louisville and were pretty reasonable too. 502-935-5583. Whenever I get around to buying all my stuff to fix mine I'm buying them from C&O Marine in nashville and they should be able to get you whatever you need to fix yours. 2 reasons I'll buy from them...1 R&W will never get a penny from me unless it's an absolute emergency(it's pretty bad when you'll buy your stuff from someone that's 2 hours away rather than the dealer that's 2 miles away). 2 they give a dicount for BBC members that'll basically cover shipping I've also heard a lot of good things about reynolds there in shepherdsville.

Agree wholeheartedly about R&W, would not piss on them if they were on fire.

Their service guy literally lied to my face telling me he had turned in prop warranty on a trophy plus. He said they turned it down so I picked up the prop. Then Joe N. took it to his guy who said they got it approved and that it had never been turned in for warranty in the first place.

It depends on which way you go. Your's is probably like mine and is an aluminum blcok with steel sleeves. For mine it was $100 for the new sleeve then $230 to put it in and hone the other 5 holes Give or take a little since it's been a while.

My reason for not dealing with R&W is the owner is an a-hole from way back. I was asking one of the mechanics a question one day and Woody asked me if I was going to buy anything or not. I said no I'm just asking a question so Woody jumps right up in my face and just screams "Then get your f@#$ing ass the hell out of here you a@#hole!" That was the last time I went in there.

    Re: Good machine shop... (bassman502)

When I get around to buying the stuff for it I'm going to basically have a new motor when I'm done. rings, a piston, rod, wrist pin and bearing, crank bearing, crank seals, master gasket kit, carb rebuild kits, recirc valves, water pump, lower unit seals. The pistons, rods and bearings in mine are all wiseco's so it's just stupid how much they cost.

    hey steve
i may be wrong but i think your block has chromed cylender walls,if so it will need to be re sleeved period and last one i had done was close to 400 for parts and labor..may try brangers in e-town,they do some radical car motors so they have to be well equipped..

not taking sides by any means,i know woody very well since my dad bought his boat in 89 from him,i have never personally had any problems, just this past fri i was in there for 45 mins, always shakes my hand and askes how the family is doin and all, even walked out to the truck to see my little one.your story is one i hear from folks all time, his way is hard for sure, any way though you have to look at it this way, when i was a service writer when a mechanic stops to jabber with whom ever,he isn't making you any money, yes someone will buy a part OCCASIONALLY but it don't make up what a mechanic can talk away,if he talks for 30mins either another customer is paying $45 for nothing,on the job he is working, or i as the owner i am paying him to help fix a problem for free to you but costing me.i know you have to be customer friendly, which maybe he isn't ....but you have to be makin money to pay them bills...2 mechanics,,talk 1hr each per day,$180 per day lost,,$900 wk,,,$43,200 for 48wks,alowing for vac and holidays....so basically as you see it cost him 1 mechanics yearly salary,,,maybe 10 new units sold for no profitt...takes alot to make it up...don't get mad just thought i'd show you the other side of it..i know it don't make it right to cuss people..
