Boys I've been lurking but haven't fished all that much or had alot to add lately, but I've gotta tell this one because sometimes being a jacka$$ gets you what you deserve.
Fished Patoka this weekend and going out of Newton Stewart was a 111 boat BFL. We started off fishing a point with some grass as they staged way back by the boat ramp. Then the launch boat came out about 100-150 yards from us and began sending them off one by one. We were nowhere near in the way. About the 10th boat out decides to go past the launch boat and do a 180 to come back in toward the bay. This guy jumps no more than 15 yards in front of me and drops his trolling motor and starts casting right up on the point I'm fishing. So I'm a little aggitated, but I figure what the hey, its not worth getting pissed over because I hadn't caught anything anyway. Then about 5 or 10 boats later, another guy does a 180 and comes back towards us also. This jerk decides it is 100% acceptable to drive right between me and the point I'm fishing in front of 100 of his competitors. I'm not exaggerating when I say I had to reel up my spinnerbait to keep it from getting caught up in his outboard. As I'm standing there stunned in disbelief at how rude this guy was, guess who plows his boat into the mud (water is down) and promptly hangs his outboard and sticks his boat dead solid. I couldn't help it, I just started laughing and if I'd had my camera I'd have taken a picture and put this a-hole all over the internet. I just sat there and watched him getting his due to my amusement
for a minute or two (did not offer help) and then fired up my outboard, washed the whole area out
and idled across the bay to another point.
There this jerk was trying to big-time me and all he managed to do was get himself hung in the mud and make a fool out of himself in front of 100 of his competitiors. Karma can be a mother and he should have known better...he would have thrown an absolute fit if I had done this to him. It never ceases to amaze me how a little money on the line and a few patches on a shirt makes people feel like they have a license to be an a-hole, but at least this one got what he deserved.
For the record, the bite was a little slow for me. Basically slop fished most of the day and covered alot of water. Caught a few shallow and a few deep but nothing really consistent at all. Also saw some Texas tea so I think some areas of the lake are probably beginning to try to turn over.
