The week before the Derby is the time to go. Track is in great shape and better horses and jockeys in town.![]()
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
yeah, we've done that a few times. But Oaks day used to be a blast. Used to be the "Locals Derby".......now they want to make it just like the derby. They've raised the price to get in and the drinks also. I'll just wait until the Derby is over and go donate some $$$![]()
I'm working in Louisville at Caritas ER. Stop in and say hi!
Daniel, I'm not sure if the ER is a place I'd want to "drop in to say hi"![]()
We should do lunch one day![]()
The hospital I work at is just down the street from the Downs so we get all types! I'd love to do lunch sometime but most of the time don't even sit down to eat!![]()
I have been to two Derbys, I was there in 1993 when Bailey came up the rail and win on Sea Hero. I spent all day on the back side in the barn area. Its one big party for all of horsemen and their familys. I was room rider in 1997 when Thunder Gulch win. I sat in Jocks room all day hopeing to get to ride something, but didn'tI still made 200 dollars for doing nothing. If anybody ever goes to The Derby they going to see more peolpe, than they will see in there lives. Crowed ain't even a word for it.
Looks like this years derby is, The year of Nick Zito, hes got 4 horses going in the Derby with Bellamy Road probably being the favorite. His others are High fly, Noble Causeway and Sun King.
The Kentucky Derby is the most prestigious horse race a Trainer, Owner and Jockey can win. Its a dream just to make it their. I miss the sport so much, I am retried now. I rode races for 10 years and win lots of races at Chuchill Downs, I thank God everyday that I got to ride as long has did, without getting hurt seriously. I love all the peolpe I met along that road. I am still a licence Jockey, but I don't know if I will ever ride races again. This time of year is hard for me, sit around thinking about all the years I rodeBut I am thankful that I have a Wonderful Wife and three children, they mean so much to me, thats why I don't ride races anymore.
I train and exercise horses 6 days a week at the Russell County Fair grounds if any of you ever over that way, stop in and see me and watch the horses train.
