I have a 2009 Mercury Optimax Pro XS 250hp and am looking for a spare lower unit. The lower unit I have on there now has the fat shaft, what are these lower units called? Just looking to pick up a used or rebuild to bolt on in a pinch.

Matt this would be a TorgueMaster gearcase
In order to determine which gearcase you have, it would be necessary to have your engine's SERIAL NUMBER.
Also not a bad idea to have a side-view picture of the gearcase, just in the "off chance" that it was changed after it left the factory.
There are at least SIX possible gearcases that could be on the 250XS Racing model.
