    EFI vs Optimax pro XS

I have a friend that is into buying, fixing and reselling boats and he has an 06 champion 198 with a 225 proxs on it. I don't really want a payment, but if the difference in gas and oil is significant I might try and jump on it just to save some gas. If I can get him down enough to keep my payments around 150$, but save 100$ a month in gas and oil it might be worth it to me. So can anyone give a good comparison of the fuel/oil consumption between a proxs and a 175 EFI.

The Opti's burn a lot less gas.The Oil will cost more look for a dealer that sells it by bulk..I have 225 ProXS and I burn about 10 gallons a trip.

Just to clarify... I believe you meant to say that you burn about 10 gallons of FUEL per trip (and not 10 gallons of oil, as might be inferred).

In general, the Optimax series engines will get at least 35% better fuel economy, as compared to their "similar horsepower EFI counterparts".

You're obviously moving up in boat size, and horsepower... meaning that it's going to be difficult to give an accurate comparison.

Although I don't have hard numbers, I feel when I went from a 150 Intruder to my 225 Optimax, my gas consumption didn't go up at all.

Yes I usually burn 10 gallons of gas. And very little oil.
