    2006 225 pro x's

Looking to buy my first pro xs. Is there anything besides a compression check that would help check the motor? The motor is 2006....has 207 hours with 145 of those being at or below 1500 rpms. 11 hours at or above 5500 rpms. Any advice would appreciated.

    Thanks,
    tritonvol

    That motor is great.

I would be sure to have it checked out well for carbon build up, with 145 hours below 1500 RPMs. These motors are made to RUN and run cleaner at higher RPMs.

    Suggest:

-Compression test (better yet- a Leakdown Test)
-Computer Diagnostic Printouts of RUN History, Freeze Frame (Fault) History
-Gearcase Check (fluid quality, shift quality, Propshaft Runout)
-Maintenance History (and current NEEDS review)
-Test run on the water to confirm proper operation

Plenty of useful information can be found in the following post (pinned to the top of this forum):

Thanks guys! Does the number of hours seem normal or high for an 06?

    Re: (TRITONVOL)

200 hours is pretty nominal for an '06. That is only 50 hours per year. Casual weekend use.
