    New Boat Owner

Hey I recently purchased a 99 nitro 882. An upgrade from my basstracker. I am still getting used to all the new features and am very unsure about my trailer that now has a brake system. I want to change out the rims and tires because of rust and very cracked tires. When i do should I also change brakes or hubs? What is a good idea to keep it rolling smooth. Also what kind of oil do I put in my trailer in the front where it has the oil spout? I tried to read my manuel but it doesnt really say. Can anyone help out this NEW BOAT OWNER???

I think what you are calling an oil spout, is the brake fluid resevoir fill.

Do you know the history of the boat ? This is what i would do.

#1 repack bearings and replace seals
#2 replace grease in lower unit
#3 remove prop and check for fishing line around shaft
#4 inspect brakes, and flush fluid, old fluid can damage brake system, moisture and rust
#5 make sure it has the cable for the breakaway brake system.
#6 check your receiver and make sure it is adjusted right to stay on ball. never know what someone has done before you got it.
#7 check all wiring on trailer and boat, that is one of the most common problems on a used boat.Look at the battery connections real good.

When i buy a used boat I go over everything on the boat, may take a couple weeks but worth it, could keep you off the side of the road or from being towed back to the dock.

You should have a label or it might be stamped on the front of trailer about the brake fluid type,
