    225 efi idle problems

I have an 02 225 efi ser # ot738185. It has a moody idle sometimes when you crank it it idles perfect but sometimes very low. When you crank it and it is low sometimes it will cut off and sometimes it will pickup to normal. I call normal about 800rpm and low is 400rpm. I just did the following updates but it did this before and now after. Chris Carson reeds and Don cleaned my injector and I ran the new fuel line. I did buy a new set of plugs and fuel filter from Don when he did my injectors but have not put them in yet. Thanks for any help. Kevin Richbourg.

I do run the the additives with 87 gas and the motor only has about 150 hours on it.

    Kevin:

Was a SYNC-N-LINK proceedure completed (and the TPS adjusted) when you reinstalled the intake/reed plate?

This is CRITICAL to proper performance/operation.

No I didn't I was going to test the TPS but I didn't know about a sync-link. I did buy a service manual is it in there. The one thing is it did do it before this work.

Sync-n-Link proceedures are covered under the "Engine Synchronization and Adjustments" section in detail.

You may also want to do a "voltage sweep test" of the TPS. Any irratic voltages (voltage changing without throttle input), or glitches (voltage should increase steadly as throttle is advanced, and DECREASE steadly when throttle is decelerated) would be an indication that the TPS is faulty.

Had one just last Friday like this- would irratically go from a stable idle to about 2000 RPM's and back (TPS voltage sitting at .96V at idle, sudden spikes seen to 2.04 VDC). New TPS resolved the problem.
