    Looking for a hunt

Ok guys. I am looking for somewhere to go out of state next year and make a bow hunt. I would like to know where my best odds would be to kill a good buck. Would like to stay around $1500 with license and all if possible. If anyone knows some public land that a guy would stand a good chance of getting a good mature buck with a bow , I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

TEXAS would probably be your best bet.

There is some good public hunting in Indiana. I go every year and hunt public and private land with a friend of mine. Check out the Mississinewa Reservoir. The 2 deer below were taken off of the Mississinewa by my frfiend and his dad out of the same tree within 24 hrs of each other. Its around Marion, In $150 tag

I've looked into Kansas, but getting a tag seems harder than congress passing a bill, and just as expensive.

You can draw with 90% success in Kansas for whitetails. The trick is you have to pick your area in which you want to draw. Archery of course is your best bet.

Re: Looking for a hunt (Bassman25)

Too bad you couldn't make two trips--one for scouting/prep and the second for the hunt. Sounds like a a pretty good challenge to find a place, pattern the deer and stick a trophy all in the course of a week or so. With enough begging and pleading, you might be able to get permission to hunt a farm someplace or maybe land bordering a farm but it probably won't be in the glorified trophy states. What you really need is a BBC'er to set you on the right path once you settle on an area.

Good luck on your noble quest.

Come to Kansas. We are over ran with HUGE whitetail bucks! And there is about 1 million acres of walk-in hunting that the state leases from landowners. Great deer hunting. Give me your address and I will mail you a walk-in hunting atlas.
