Anyone using deer decoys?
My girlfriend got into bow hunting this year but is afraid of heights, so we are limited to a ground blind. We hunt 600 miles from home so don't have the luxury of setting up the ground blind in advance. The last day of our five day hunt I set up a blind after lunch on a plot that we didn't hunt all week and decided to try using a decoy for the first time. I set up the decoy (Primos scorface) w/out horns about 12 yards up wind of the blind. It was unbelievable how that decoy diverted every deer’s attention directly to it. The bucks (all young 1 1/2 year olds and button bucks) all came within 10 yards of our ground blind to get down wind of the decoy. 3 Mature Does walked in the plot without a care in the world, they would look at the decoy, but wasn't spooked.
I'm hooked on using this method and wanted see if anyone else could share some decoy stories good and bad.
