Match the cal. to the game that you will be hunting. Don't go to small of cal. I would say in Canada you would need something for the larger game. A 338-06 A square or a 35 Whelen is a good round both are base on a 30-06. Both are factor ammo also now. Just a push not a quick kick like the 30-06 or 7 mm mag. Took a nice white tail with a 338-06 last season. Try to get someone to let you shoot the cal in what every you get.
