I have used the savage model 110 with an accutrigger and it was a very accurate rifle. I also have a model 700 sps in a 270. Been an excellent rifle as well and nice thing is they did not hurt the pocket too bad. On calibre I would think 270 or a 7mm/08 would be a great choice for your wife. Just remember to shoulder the guns you do look at and make sure the stock fits her. that is most important thing. I light calibre with an improper fitting stock will buck hard and like wise a bigger calibre with a properly fitted stock for her can be very tame. Good luck. Wish my wife would hunt and shoot.
