Yep, the service book should cover exactly what to do and how long to do it. For example my opti required you to run at a given rpm for a set time. Then vary the rpm for a set time, etc, etc.
Some will say you don't need to follow this, but... the engine computer generally records what is happening with the engine. If some warranty issue comes up and you didn't follow the breakin procedure you could be in a tough spot.
If you don't have the engine service book your dealer should provide one. It will be the longest 10hrs of your boating life.![]()
