planing out

i have aproblem with planing I'm hoping to get help with. I have a 17 ft procraft 170 with a 115 merc. Boat is very slow to plane out and once on top it wants to jump/ porpoise. What am I doing wrong? I start out with the motor all trimmed down then once it levels I start trimming up and thats when it starts to jump. Am I trimming too fast, too much, too slow? Once it starts to jump I throttle down or trim down and it stops. Boat doe's not have a jack plate, I bought a hydrofoil and it didn't seem to help so I took it back off. Should I put it back on? By the way, it' has a 3 blade prop also. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like a prop and/or motor height problem to me. What prop are you running? Do you have a jackplate on the boat? What is your pad to propshaft height?

Once you get it on plane keep it at w.o.t(wide open throttle) and trim up a little at a time. Trim up a little, let the boat get adjusted to that, then bump it again and let the boat adjust to that. There's a million thing's that could wrong but if you can plane off with tilt/trim you can find a spot to run were it won't bounce. You probably are trimming up way to fast. Remember to keep it at w.o.t. while your doing this. I can be running 40 mph just fine and let off the gas a little then it'll start to bounce so you either got to trim down some or give it more gas.
