Gonna post this in a couple of forums to hopefully get some good advice.
Any tips on what to put in rod lockers to keep your rods and reels dry during storage (as to avoid condensation)?

I just stick empty plastic coke bottle under all my box lids leaving a gap so moisture can escape

Take a plastic pint container (Wonton Soup) and fill it half way with Calcium Cloride. Punch a bunch of holes in the top and place 1 in each cabinet.
When you open them up in the spring the Calcium Cloride will be solid like a rock from absorbing any moisture in the cabinet.
Works great!!
This is what Damp Rid is , just in a fancy container..

Wow...great idea. I'd read an article about getting those little silcon packs from a pharmacy (that come in your meds) and placing them in your tackle trays, but was always curious how to do that on a larger scale...hence the question about the lockers.
Thanks!
I should mention .. If you want to get fancy. Cut holes in the bollom of the container also and put a piece of screen in before you put the CC in. Then just place it in a quart size container. Now the captured moisture will drip into the quart container and you can just empty it once in a while.

I have never tried it but I think I read in Bassmasters you can put charcoal in a ziplock bag with holes in it and it will also absorb the water.
bed bath and beyond sells this pouch called damp-rid or rid-damp. Works good but so does kitty litter in your wives panty hose. Just don't tell her you took a pair.
Love me some Powell\'s!!!

This is what I do. I just leave the sangwich bag open and the charcaol does its job. Been doing it for 20 years now and works great![]()
I keep them open while it is in the garage (gas smell) and run the garage ceiling fan if they get wet. My seals still keep everything dry. The perko's let a drop or 2 inbut it isn't usually an issue.
same here and I also put a couple of those carpet drying fans in which work great as well. The key is to dry it out as fast as possible
