Guys my tach is jumpnig all over the place but the motor is running fine . Is it more likely the tach or the sending unit ? How can I check it ?

My guess is the voltage regulator/rectifier.
First check the little dial setting on the back of the gauge itself. Mine did the same thing because the dial had somehow moved slightly off the correct setting. It should be set to "6P", IIRC.

Also check POWER, Signal, and GROUND connections for the tach to confirm they're not LOOSE.
Power= PURPLE wire
Ground= BLACK wire
Signal= Gray wire
(Blue wire attached to tachometer is for backlighting)
