I have a little technique that I use for club tournaments on local lakes. I keep a scratch pad in the glove box of the boat and everytime I catch a fish I mark the location on the GPS, write down the date, water temp, weather, time of day, bait used, and the length of the fish. I'll sometimes fish local lakes 4-5 days per week. A few days before a tournament I'll go through my scratch pad and GPS, put a month or so worth of data into a spreadsheet and print it out. It's hard to remember exactly what bait you were using at what time of day and where you were a month down the road, but with the spreadsheet it's usually possible to establish a decent pattern. It's also extremely helpful if your partner can't get to the lake as often as you. Give him the spreadsheet a week before the tourney and let him practice based off of your info. It may sound too analitical, but it works!
