Background: The motor has given a warning beep about 2 out of 3 times that the motor is started since it was new (2 years). I took it back to the dealer once, where he took the leads out of the power disconnect switch and tied them directly to the battery. No change and no errors showing up on the motor. He told me to ignore the warning, but it still bothered me. I had the battery tested twice and, both times, it showed good. I still thought that it was the battery. Once the motor is started, it runs fine, but it definitely drags while turning over.
A few few weeks ago, I purchased a new Cabelas AGM starting battery that is on Don's recommended list. Guess what? I'm getting the same warning beep. I also set my Lowrance to warn me when the battery voltage drops below 9V, and it does with almost every start.
I have a new battery (charged before use), the motor starter leads are directly on the battery lugs, the ring terminals were cleaned and polished up before putting them on the new battery, and the cables are stacked in the correct order, with the motor leads on the bottom with a SS nut and washer to hold the rings down.
2 weeks ago, I lost my third coil on this motor, so I took it in to be repaired. No errors (outside of the coil issue) were seen. They checked compression (120 psi on each), fuel and air pressure (I think 93 psi air and 102 psi fuel, but not sure without my sheet in front of me), and a total of 113 hours on the motor (over 50% of which were under 1500 rpm). All in all, they said that the motor seemed very tight.
Does anyone have any ideas? Please Help!!
