    Stratos 273 Recarpet Job

Just finished the recarpet job on my Stratos. I used Basscat 24oz carpet and contact cement and it turned out great. I also replaced all of the handles with anchor handles and put gas lifts in some of the boxes that did not have them.

So far in the past year I have added LED deck and compartment lights, alarm system, new carpet and harware and recessed trolling motor tray.

What kind of handles were on it before? Do you have any of the old ones left?

Thanks everybody. I am very happy with it.

I had the square plastic locking handles with the D ring. I have several if you want them.

Where did you buy your T handles? Did you have to shave the sides of the lids?

Re: Stratos 273 Recarpet Job (derick881)

I got the t handles from cabelas and BPS.

Interesting that you ask about shaving the lids. The carpet was a Christmas gift to me from my inlaws. My father-in-law purchased it and had it shipped to his house. I got some quotes from several places to do the job for me and as soon as I would tell them that I had 24oz carpet, they would tell me that the cost was going to go up because they were going to have to shave the lids. One guy even showed me his 24oz carpet that he sells and it was really long. This worried me because I thought that it was going to cost an arm and a leg. I said screw it, I am going to do it myself. I went and picked up the carpet from my FIL and it was the same length as the carpet that came off of my boat. Here is the difference. Regular 24oz carpet has a really long pile. Basscat carpet has the same density but the pile is cut shorter because they know that it will be installed in a bass boat. I believe that the weight of the carpet measures density and not pile length. I did the entire carpet job and did not have to shave anything. Are my lids tight?? Yes but not so tight that I can't get them open. They will compress as they get used and will fit like a glove.

That is the one thing that I did not keep track of. I worked 3 full weekend days plus another 14 weekday hours.
