the anodizing on my jackplate. The anodizing it wearing away (only 3 yrs old ) from the water line down. I'm thinking someone may have come across a metal stain sort of like a " cold bluing " for steel. I suppose I could prep and paint it but thought I'd ask first.........G
The only way to fix this is to have it powder coated. Once the protective film is off the aluminum it will always need to be buffed every time out to remove the water spots. I guess you can have it redipped? I know if I go though the trouble of pulling it off I would have it powder coated a color to go with the scheme of the boat and never look back.
Both my setback plate and jackplate are annodized "black". The black is fading away, from the water line down, exposing the bright aluminum. I'm just trying to find something to re-color it with...G
