84 Ranger 375v

Put my gas tanks back in today along with new fuel line, fuel vent lines and fuel filler hose.

Putting the gas tanks in and getting everything hooked up properly is a PitA, my arms are scratched to high heaven.

The only question I have is on the ground wire for the filler hose. I was unable to get into the top part of the hose between the filler neck and hose. I instead put in the lower portion under the hose clamp, will this work, or should I get one of my kids to stick their arms in the access holes and do it for me (My arms don't fit)?

Been a few weeks and the rain finally let up here in Northern CA. Got the boat almost completely compounded and should have polished and waxed by the weekend. I will post pics of each phase.

All the seats have been re-done and are waiting patiently to be installed. Once the boat is waxed and seats are in I will begin the carpet install.

On the carpet, what are some opinions, I am torn between going with a driftwood color to stay with the earth tones of the boat or should I go with a light or silver grey to be more standard. Anyone have pics of driftwood, light brown or beige carpet in their boat?

Alreighty, I am almost done. Got up this morning and waxed the boat then starting putting everything back together. All the seats are in but I need to fasten down the center console seat. Still need to do carpet and that should be here any day. Here are a few pics.

Looking good! I have a 375V that I did the same thing on a few years ago. One thing I would suggest is to remove the front livewell lid & build one that is the same height as the deck. You will be glad you did & It's easy to do.

I put the boat in the water a few times to try it and had some trouble but figured it out. The motor blew the main fuse. Replaced it and then tried it again and on short runs, no more than say 3/4 miles I was able to hit 54mph GPS. Not to bad in my opinion for a 26 yr old boat and motor. I still need to tweak a bit with the motor and prop but those speeds will get me anywhere I wanna go.

I was reading a thread on here last night about using an ohm meter on the transom. I never knew this trick, I grabbed my 9yr old son and brought him to the boat, handed the negative wire to him and said hold it right here (on the tie down strap hook). I then tested every metal surface on the transom I could and never got a reading. I was so relieved, since my boat is a 1984 with a wood transom.
