Painting Trailer

What's the best paint to use when repainting trailer. Also going to install new lights at the same time, what lights to use? Thanks

Take a look at the Pics of my 1992 Skeeter Restore and you will see pictures of my re-painted trailer. Used Rustoleum Hammered Metal paint. Rolled it on with a foam roller, smooth as butter, went on really easy. Took me a couple hours to paint it - easy job. Make you prep the trailer before painting.

I think I am going to go with Line-X or something of that nature. A truck bed coating.

My trailer had alot of chips in the paint from rocks plus a few scuffs from over things...So I had a local body shop paint it for me last year and they used a good paint called Dupont...It looked great for a few months and now its back to having chips and such in it...If I was you I would definetley have it redone with some type of liner...I think next year Im gonna redo it myself, the automobile paint just doesnt hold up on the boat trailers...Im gonna go to a parts store and buy the liner that you can do yourself and just roll it on...Hopefully this will help you!!

we use line-x or speed-liner they can match up close to any color you can pretty much want.

It wasn't a fault of Dupont paint.. I'm not a Dupont fan but any paint line will end up chipping in time due to rocks and road debris.
I'd have to go with the bed liner route if I was really worried about it. By the time you paid someone to paint your trailer or bought the paint yourself, you would probably be close to bedliner.....
Keep in mind, you go cheap - you'll be doing it again in a couple of years..

sherwin williams makes an industrial paint you can get in almost any color. we use it on a lot of equipment and service trucks since it holds up great to abuse.

What do guys think of this? http://www.repaintsupply.com/p...g.cfm . You spray it with a texture gun, $20 from Harbor Freight.

I've researched it and it gets very good reviews for a DIY kit.

My problem with the Line-X is it is porous. Look close at it and there are little holes everywhere which will trap dirt. I had gas/oil from a weedeater leak on mine and now I can't get the stain out. That was 6 months ago. Also, it fades very bad. I've had it in my truck for 1 1/2 years and it looks terrible in my opinion. I hear you can get it with UV inhibitors also though.

I sandblasted my trailer a few years ago. Used zinc chromate primer and Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel as referenced in a post above. It's holding up very well.
