    2005 Mercury 200 Opti Sluggish

Purchased used boat with above motor. 106 hrs, compression is 110-120 on all cylinders and no fault codes. Boat has not been ran in several months and plugs have not been changed since origianl owner purchased. Motor feels a little sluggish when running and can feel intermittant burst of speed.

I plan on changing plugs and filters, but wondering what else would make motor run sluggish with the "small" burst of speed.

    any info is appreciated.

    Thanks

I'd recommend a FRESH load of fuel (Optimax engines aren't happy with old or deteriorated fuel).

Also recommend that you consider Spark plugs, fuel filter, pulse fuel pump kit (Part# 857005A1), and READ THE FOLLOWING POST:

Thanks for the info. I plan on getting plugs and filters changed out, but what is the pulse fuel pump kit?

I will also check the fuel lines as well.

The "Pulse Fuel Pump" is a mechanical, pressure/vaccum operated diaphram fuel pump.

It would be square in shape, approximately 2.5-3" in width, and mounted to the front of the IVST (just forward of the red-capped fuel filter).

The kit contains diaphrams, gaskets, and check valves (as well as instructions).
