I posted last week with maybe the same problem. Where I step on the front deck the foam beneath the deck has collasped some over time. I'm thinking about drilling a small hole and putting in more foam. Maybe somebody will post with some ideas.
Sounds more like wood rot to me as the foam doesn't really collapse. It can get wet but it doesn't collapse too often. Do a search here on replacing wood or deck. There's some great threads that will walk you through the process

I have the same problem. Been there for awhile and I know it`s wood rot.
I`ve been holding off till it gets "bad" then I`ll pull up the carpet and have a look-see.
For me, I`m thinking cut out the bad area, get marine grade plywood and make a patch, maybe some fiber-glass, clean it up and see how it looks.
Has to be better than it was plus, the carpet will cover all.
I`m sure there are many ways to accomplish this type of repair but I`m thinking this is fine for me.
Come to think of it.... maybe I`ll wait till I fall through. Then I `ll get
serious.![]()
