    Hose Clamps?

I know internal fuel lines are fastened with a type of crimp, but is there any reason that normal screw tighten hose clamps can not be used?
Most of my houses were loosly fitted with zip ties so as a temporary fix I am planning on replacing them with clamps as I currently do not have the proper crimps/tool.
    Thanks!!!

Most people will overtighten them and damage the hose, low pressure will be fine with ty-rap as a clamp. If you dont feel safe with it you can get a gun to tighten the ty-rap's. They are adjustable.

When I redid my fuel lines, I used the SS hose clamps (screw tighten ones) that were on the black hose for the new black hose (Shields 368 EPA Compliant 3/8").

I used zipties for the new EPA Compliant gray with blue writing Mercury hose. The zipties I got from the dealer I got the hose. They had a curve to the back of the locking head instead of the normal flat surface. They told me that I should use zipties on the gray hose....because the screw clamps would damage it.

If you have access to Oetiker Clamps (and a proper crimping tool), that's also a good alternative to consider.

The 54-816311T tie-straps work QUITE well on the gray w/blue lettering OEM line.

Those clamps are great but the tool ain't cheap. I wonder if you can get those clamps designed for silicon hoses. They don't cut into the hose as they tighten.

Ok boy's ya gotta think outside the box, Harbor Freight for a Nail Pulling plier....aka "The Crimper".....$5 max. I took mine and ground down the sides to be able to get into tighter spots. Mine is only 1/2" wide, works perfect.

As for the clamps..........McMaster Carr (Order online) here's a link to the stainless clamps I always use..........

I've got a pair just like that which I used FOR YEARS (until I got the Oetiker clamp kit).
