Repairng hole from antenna in gunwale of Ranger

I bought a 492VS Ranger in great shape. I rmoved the older electronics and gps that used an external antenna and now I have about a one inch round hole through the gunwale. I know how to repair the hole with a plug of glassed wood but what I am not sure of is the gel coat. I got the matching flake and clear gel coat from Ranger. Do I just mix the gel coat and add the proper amount of flake and apply it to the repaired area and cover it with wax paper or do I add the flake and gel coat but keep it about 1/16th of an inch below the surface and then just add the clear with no flake to top it off?
    Inner peace for world peace/

Doc Mix them together and cover the area.....if you do it the other way the flake will look far down into the gel..........The flake will settle some after you put it in and look ok.........
