Removing glue from underside of deck lids...

Hi Guys, I am recovering the bottom of my rod locker lids, the urethane foam that was on there was previously used to hold tons of fishing lures, and is all torn up...

So I scraped off all the foam last night, and the best I can get leaves a very thin layer of black foam material still stuck to the glue...

Can I just brush new glue right on top of that, or should I find some kind of glue remover to remove all residue before I put down new carpet glue and carpet it with marine carpet?

I would get some acetone and remove it or you may not get a good bond with the new glue. It's going to take some rubbing and scraping but it will come off. The acetone disolves the glue.

Storm is right. I used this on my boat and the Acetone removes the glue and is a great cleaner.

I did mine this past summer and used mineral spirits and then went over the stubborn glue with a drill and wire brush. It worked great.
