Deck extension pics for Ranger 350V

I built this deck extension this summer over a period of 4 days. Aslo removed and installed the carpet. Decided to use 2 different colors one for floor and one for deck. The contrast is great and the deck is at least 10 degrees cooler to fish on during summer.

I used 3/4" plywood and sealed it with fiberglass resin after cutting out all parts to fit into deck. I decided not to drill holes into the fiberglass so the deck is completely removable. I did support the entire top with 1" x 1" pine running from the floor to the deck sealed with resin and 3/4" sealed plywood deviding the compartments. I got my lids from Cabellas (alum).

In the Middle compartment in the added deck I am able to store 10 tackle trays with room for more. This carpment also is where the stereo and speakers are mounted. The added side compartment holds my soft plastics currently around 7 worm bags. I now have plenty of storage and some tunes to listen to when the fish are not biting (who's listening when your catching them anyway)

I love the classic Rangers! The deck looks really nice. It's something that adds to the look as well as the function. Great job!

    That looks really sharp.

I own a 375V and I want to add a deck extension to mine as well. It is a dual console though. How much does your extension weight, about?

Also, couple of quick questions. Did you buy the windshield and if so, where? I would like to get some that actually fit my boat.

Have you recently had the boat re-gell coated? I need to do that also, and have no idea how much it is going to run me.

Again, the boat looks great. I hope I get mine looking like that some day.

My Ranger 350V is an 83 model. It has not been re-gellcoated, just well taken care of. I am the third owner. The deck extension is not that heavy the way I built it. I can pick it up and place and remove it myself with no problem. If I had to guese the weight I would say about maybe 60-70lbs if that. Like I said I built mine so that I could remove it If I wanted to without removing any screws. The way the extension is now it is one solid piece. I have had two people 200lbs each fishing off the front with no prblems. I also wired my radio to a toggle switch at the console so I can turn it on and off without opening the face of the radio. If you need any elp or suggestions let me know.

Have you contacted Ranger? They may have OEM winshields yet. Yours isn't that old so you may luck out.

    Bassman,

I don't know if they are the exact same but if you want I can tell you how I measured for the deck and supports. A thought for you though--If you add a deck extension be prepared to recarpet the whole boat (very had to match carpet)

I have a 17 ft Nitro and love the idea.Where your stereo is mounted that looks like the factory fiberglass front where you old other compartment is,or what is it.And so i understand you made a plate out of 3/4 coated ply and made supports going from floor to btm of ext correct..Like legs on a table? W/ supports also being where your boxes are divided...So it isnt secured to anything in the boat correct,,Email me @ timmcneal@bellsouth.net..........Thanks

Re: Deck extension pics for Ranger 350V (tpgrealty)

Great looking setup. I'm about to start building one for my 350V. Any suggestions on lessons learned or things to watch out for? I'm also replacing the windshield on mine since my buddy decided to sit on it last month. Those windshields just won't support 200+ lbs of stumbling fisherman. Guess they don't build 'em like they used to!
You gotta love an old Ranger!!!
