    Javelin Setup Help

    '93 Javelin 409T
    '99 Johnson 225 HO
    6" manual jackplate
    26 Raker II - stock
not sure on height but it is as low as I can go on the plate. Below 4"
    5900-6000 RPM's, 59 mph (GPS), 40-45 water PSI

I have had this setup for about eight years, but the more I get passed the more I think about trying to improve it. I can definately use more bow lift.

I think I am going to have to increase pitch and go up on the plate, but before I start that process I thought I would run it by you guys for some direction.

Thanks for any suggestions or comments.

I have a 96 400 se with a 175 johnson. I get about 60-63 wot with a 25 pitch renegade. I can only get about 5000 rpm. To get the most sipped and lift, I have to trim it 3/4 of the way up. Running 20 psi. You may have the motor set too low. Jmho.

You got the right prop for that engine as long as you dont plan on turning itle run like a raped ape. Raise the engine 1/4 inch at the time and watch yoir water pressure and rpms. You should be able to turn 6000 easily with that setup and prop. I had basically the same boat and was turning 6200 wot. The higher you raise the engine the worse you steering is guna gwt with that raker. You should be able to get mid 60s or better with no problem.

    Re: Javelin Setup Help (corybyrum)

Thanks guys. I went down on the jp to lower the rpm's. I was trying to stay under 6k. Is it ok to run it at 6200 rpm's? The original engine was a 200 johnson, 4 below pad, 25 shooter, 63 mph. Unfortunatley my oiler went out and it went boom. I have not changed my setup since I repowered 9 yrs ago.

Raker 2 is not as good as the original Raker OMC made. If you can find an original Raker try that. Get some cup added to blades to help with lift. Transom wedge would also be a good investment due to javelins angle on their transom, this will help out with bow lift also as the Johnson will not overtrim when running.
Start at 3.25 inches below pad. Boat should be 70+ mph with proper setup.
